If there is an accident connected with work including an act of physical violence and employee, or a self-employed person working on premises, suffers an over-three-day injury it must send a completed accident report form (F2508) to the enforcing authority within ten days. An over-three-day injury is one which is not major but results in the injured person being away from work or unable to do their normal work for more than three days. On the other hand, if an employee suffered a moving and handling injury that resulted in inability to do her/his usual work for more than three days, the employer would be obliged to report. For example, a care assistant suffers a back injury when lifting a heavy load and is unable to work for four days. Views, preferences, and choice of residents: We must develop and maintain the relationship that promotes views, preference and need of individual. The people I work with are old and having dementia and they have a right to choose the way they are cared for. I should always let them be as independent as possible according to their condition. I support individual to communicate their views and preference in according to their need and priorities. I help and support resident as individual and with respect and dignity. For example: What time they wish to get up and have their meals? What they want to wear? What they wish to do during the day? Whether they want to stay in their room or wish to go to the lounge? I encourage the individual to take as much responsibilities themselves if they are able and it is possible (Burrbidges, et.al 2003). The beliefs and preferences of an individual affect the way of moving and positioning the residents. We should find out their likes and preference and should not force them whatever they do not like. For example, clients from cultural backgrounds like, Middle Eastern and some Asian cultures may not wish to be moved, touched, or seen unclothed by healthcare professionals of the opposite sex where some Asian cultures wish to be involved in care to the point that they may watch over the patient around the clock, taking shifts, and they might wish to do the turning. On the other hand, some people simply favor not to be moved due to shyness. However, patients must be turned one way or another because of the safety risks posed to skin integrity, formation of contractures which limit range of motion and mobility (Burridges, et.al 2003). It is very important to take standard precaution to minimize the risk of cross infection. We must wear gloves as it act as a protective barrier against infection. Hand washing should be done :before and after performing any procedure, after contact with any body fluid, soiled linen or clinical waste ,before starting and after finishing work, after eating, after using the toilet, after coughing, sneezing, or blowing our nose, We should wear protective clothing as it helps to reduce the spread of infection by preventing infection getting on our clothes and spreading to the next person we come into contact with. We should tie up our hair because it may disturb our visible path to handle our residents, may entangled in equipment which may cause a serious injury as well as may come into contact with the individuals that can spread infection. The care plan contains information about persons day to day care .It should give details of any assistance required to wash or bath it may include using a bath hoist .It will also include the persons preference, for example if the person prefers to bath or shower. Reflection: In my nursing home where I m working, our uniform is comfortable. I wear comfortable trouser, loose tunic top and supportive shoes .I have never faced the problem and hindrances with my uniform during moving and handling. Risk assessment has two parts where employer and employees. Their roles are inseparable in order to minimize the risk and hazards. The employers duties are summarized to avoid the need for hazardous manual handling as far as is reasonably practicable, to assess the risk of injury from any hazardous manual handling that cant be avoided, to and reduce the risk of injury from hazardous manual handling, as far as reasonably practicable. On the other hand, employees duties and responsibilities are concluded to follow appropriate systems of work laid down for their safety. To make proper use of equipment provided to minimize the risk of injury, to co-operate with the employer on health and safety matters. If a care assistant fails to use a hoist that has been provided, they are putting themselves at risk of injury. The employer is unlikely to be liable, to apply the duties of employers, as appropriate, to their own manual handling activities, and to taking care to ensure that their activities do not put others at risk( ). The Military Career of George Washington Most people today think of George Washington as the first President of the United States. Perhaps they may remember that he was also the commanding general of the Continental Army. However, George Washington had much experience in the military before the Revolutionary War. Because of his experience, he was ideal for the responsibility of leading the new nation to victory over the British. In 1752, George Washington was 20 years old. He had no military experience, but his brother Lawrence had served in the British militia and this motivated George to join up (George 74b). Before the Revolutionary War, George Washington actually worked for the British. He showed his natural leadership right away. At the age of twenty, he was assigned to train militias in Virginia. The young Major Washington showed he was brave and ambitious. In 1753, he heard that a man named Robert Dinwiddie, who was the acting governor of Virginia, planned to send a message to the French troops that they needed to withdraw from the Ohio River Valley. The French wanted to hunt and trap there, but the British wanted the land for farming. Washington went to Dinwiddie to volunteer to be the messenger. Dinwiddie had enough confidence in the young soldier to let him go. Washington did not go by himself. He took a frontier guide, an interpreter, and four frontiersmen. It was dangerous wilderness and it was the middle of November. The group traveled until the middle of December. It was a long and cold journey. The French rejected the British instructions. Washington had to make the journey back to Virginia in the bitter winter weather. Indians and other dangers surrounded him. He finally returned in the middle of Ja... ...and had my commission taken from me, or in other words, my command reduced, under pretense of an order from home†¦I have been on the losing order ever since I entered the service†¦"(George 74d). A longtime advocate for the environment, Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way. â€Å"Al Gore strips his presentations of politics, laying out the facts for the audience to draw their own conclusions in a charming, funny and engaging style, and by the end has everyone on the edge of their seats, gripped by his haunting message,† said Guggenheim.An Inconvenient Truth is not a story of despair but rather a rallying cry to protect the one earth we all share. â€Å"It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly, and wisely,† said Gore. Al Gore explained how the atmosphere works; sun ray comes from the sun everyday then some of the rays stay inside the earth with the help of ozone layer to keep it warm. The crazy increase of carbon dioxide ratio has made the layer thicker so more rays are trapped more than we normally need. As a result, a lot of temperature changing can be seen around the world such as heat wave.Another problem the global warming is causing is that the ice is melting which is a very serious danger. The level of the sea, constructions and the weather itself all can be affected if the ice or permafrost starts to melt down because of the increasing of heat. At the end of his discussion, Al Gore confirmed that most of the scientists around the world agree that we are the main reason for the global warming. Globalization, Education, and Talent Essay

Suarez-Orozco and Qin-Hilliard view the phenomenon of globalization almost in the same manner. To them acceleration in movement of economic activities, trade, people, and ideas across countries is globalization. They also give their consent to the fact that the concept of globalization has grabbed the attention of today’s scholars and also caused great controversy among them regarding its pluses and minuses. However, according to them there are still many areas of this phenomenon that are unexplored. In this regard they provide the example of talent and the importance of education, an area that requires immediate concerns due to the fact that â€Å"accelerating transnational dynamics† of globalization are affecting education especially at pre- collegiate level . Present generation cannot go along the same style of education in which nations mechanically copy curricula from each other. The reason is simple. The different between today’s and past generations is that today the youth have the entire world as their playground in opposition to their grandparents who were confined in the ideologies of their towns and countries. It is essential to prepare our talent in a way that they steadfastly confront the forces of globalization that are already taxing our youth, families, and nations. Thus globalization is an accelerating complexity coming out of technology, media, changing climate of politics, migration, identities, and so on. Thus today is â€Å"a new stage of the history of education† in which the needs of people and nations have changed . There are a number of challenges that need to be covered. In this time of international competition and war of talent, the empowerment of talent is something that can be tackled by identifying the physical and cognitive changes of our present and coming generations. For this we need â€Å"digital skills†, an area new technologies can assist to come over. There is dire need to develop a network which carries with it increasingly complex skills so that participation in the globally digital network becomes a material reality. Context and action both must be focused in the global scenario to polish and boost up the talent for future. For digital skills there must be interaction between self-regulated skills and mutually regulated skills to achieve broader goals of globalization. This is important because the age has already witnessed a digital revolution that in only starting to become faster and more intense yet no one knows how rapidly changes would occur in the coming future. Then there is this â€Å"youth culture† in the waves of globalization that gives us a glimpse of what is happening to our youth in transnational communications between cultures, values, fashion, and so forth. Nike-clad, hyper-visible, or apathetically underground youth of today need extra attention so that their talent can be well utilized to confront global challenges. The author points out that examining this youth culture in details reveals the fact that in no branch of study, this culture has been duly studied for its real problems, issues and complexities. In reality, the â€Å"Issues of youth culture seep into studies of globalization by way of their attention to popular culture, media, and cultural change, but there is much less focus directly on youth per se†; moreover, there is, in particular, insufficient focus on how today’s youth think about globalization; henceforth, their perspective is not known. One reason for this neglect or gap is that generally youth are seen as part of cultures, nations, and traditions across the world and are taken with them. However, today this is not enough. Thus to grapple with the complexities present to our youth in globalization and make best use of their complex talent, it is important to seriously look at the picture through the lens of the youth so that challenges, opportunities, and complexities can be fairly streamlined into a positive current. Talent empowerment will come easy through understanding the issues of today’s youth and addressing them with rightly set measures such as education at par with the current demands .
